Absolutely unprofessional! Avoid at all costs.
I had to return because Alexia botched the initial color job. After 3 hours and a payment of $340, I definitely did not resemble a blonde. I immediately pointed out that the color was incorrect. Alexia mentioned on Instagram that I could return for up to 6 blonde stripes fixed for free, but any additional corrections would incur extra charges. When I arrived for the second appointment to rectify the mistake, I discovered that it had been canceled due to the colorist's illness (seriously?). No one bothered to inform me. Instead of a simple apology and a promise to reschedule, the owner verbally attacked me, claiming I arrived with orange hair and that they had fixed it. Who treats new clients in such a disrespectful manner? Timothy, your behavior was rude and uncalled for. You have shown your true colors. I wish you peace and happiness in your life. I came here hoping for a higher class and quality nail salon but I was mistaken. I asked for the chrome gel manicure, I was told upfront it was $80. It’s a steep price tag (a nail salon downtown charges $50 for the same service) but I was happy to pay the price but with the expectation the service would be equivalent to the price. After patiently waiting 10 mins for the technician, she started with me all frazzled and rushing. No one should use an e-file if they do not receive the proper training on how to use them. I have one at home that I use for my own cuticles and never damage my nails in the process. She started filing down my nails at the nail bed instead of the cuticle which was hurting me. She told me I needed to relax and I asked her to please only lift and file the cuticle, NOT my nail.
She continued to proceed so I asked her to use cuticle oil and cuticle cutters and that I was switching to a regular manicure. She proceeded to comment on “how bad” my cuticles were. I took a photo one week later with the damage to my nail.
To make it more annoying, when another technician asked her why the manicure was switched she said “she changed her mind and doesn’t want to pay for the gel.” I didn’t change my mind because of the price, I changed my mind because I didn’t feel it was right for me to pay $80 for someone to ruin my nails. She also did a poor job painting the nails.
Only giving 1 star because I paid for a 10 minute massage and the gentleman who was the masseuse was exceptional. My recent visit was a letdown, a loyal customer for years. 5th Ave spot made changes, moving the studio downstairs to the shopping area. They removed comfy chairs for both clients and brow specialists, impacting the end result. No privacy, all eyes on you from inside and outside. Studio now near elevator and their storage, constant foot traffic, loud and uncomfortable. No waiting area, standing only. Unhappy about the change, couldn't wait to leave. After 5+ years, won't return. Hope those responsible see this, losing long-term clients for comfort, privacy, and top-notch service. It's quite simple otherwise to wander around the block wondering where they are. That being said this place is a luxury barber shop that is priced very reasonably. Future Monarch of England Prince William actually had his haircut at one of the London locations. They excel in quality old school barber trade, and I was very pleased with my haircut from Jacob! They offer a wide range of services from skin fades to beard trims and hair washes and face cleaning etc. It's a fantastic full service barber shop and I would recommend visiting if you're in the area!About
