My initial visit to Selina’s was quite underwhelming. The technician assigned to me seemed disengaged and failed to offer even a simple glass of water. Accompanying my neighbor, I found myself waiting for an extended period due to the slow service provided by her technician. What struck me as odd was the receptionist expressing sympathy towards my neighbor for my prolonged wait, yet refraining from conversing with me due to our lack of acquaintance. Quite an unusual approach to reception, I must say. Furthermore, I was surprised to discover an additional charge for credit card transactions. When I inquired about this, the receptionist directed me to a sign that was inconveniently out of my view and remarked on my apparent infrequency in using credit cards. As someone who predominantly uses credit cards, this practice was unfamiliar to me. Since relocating to The Villages in November, I have yet to find a nail salon that truly satisfies me. I am now contemplating trying out salon number four.

My recent visit to Salina Nail Spa in Wildwood on Friday, August 26, 2024, left me utterly disappointed. I had requested a brow waxing service, only to receive one of the worst treatments I have ever experienced. The end result was far from satisfactory, with the technician seemingly making the situation worse by removing hair from inside my brows. This mishap has certainly deterred me from ever returning for brow services at that establishment.

Approximately 1.5 weeks ago, I had a dip manicure done at this salon. Initially, my nails were beautifully done by a technician named Peter, who was unfortunately let go before my subsequent appointment. However, the manicure did not withstand even a day without chipping and peeling. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I was unable to return immediately for a fix. Since then, I have visited four different nail technicians due to the high turnover rate at the salon. On my return visit, I specifically inquired about neutral chrome powders, to which the owner, Snow, assured me they had. To my dismay, the powders provided were all dark and opaque, not meeting my desired look for a special occasion. Opting for a neutral color instead, the nail technician, Vanessa, struggled to apply multiple layers, citing the poor quality of the salon's polish. Despite requesting an oval/almond shape, Vanessa delivered pointed almond nails, and when asked for a correction, she seemed unwilling to comprehend my desired shape. It was surprising to learn that the salon charges extra for shaping and cuticle care, a practice that seems out of the norm in Florida. Following the appointment, I reached out for a quick reshaping, only to be met with a response from Vanessa insinuating that I was a difficult customer and attributing the lengthy service time to my preferences. The pedicures were subpar for the price paid, and the additional massages were unsatisfactory. The unprofessional behavior displayed by Vanessa and Snow, coupled with the poor quality of products and overall cleanliness of the salon, left me questioning why anyone would choose to patronize such an establishment. I seek a salon that values customer satisfaction, professionalism, and cleanliness, with a staff that exudes positivity and respect.
