So, upon entering, the receptionist barely acknowledges my presence, signaling that I should leave. Yet, finding a stylist nearby in Westerly, after recently moving from Providence, proves challenging. Desiring to support a local business, I inquire if a stylist is available to discuss their comfort with my hair type as an African American. The receptionist's dismissive attitude and lack of effort to assist me were disheartening. Instead of seeking help, she nonchalantly hands me a card and returns to her tasks, offering no farewell or guidance. Feeling disrespected, I initially leave but return to return the card, vowing never to patronize such a place that treats potential clients poorly. A simple acknowledgment of mismatch would have sufficed, but the lack of respect and dismissal are unacceptable.
