I adore planet fitness - the staff members are incredibly supportive. I wish to see some changes in the memberships, so they wouldn't be able to resist my sales pitch.
The positives here are that the employees are friendly and helpful, the gym is generally clean, and there isn't much noise or distractions. Most people keep to themselves, which is neutral - you can greet them occasionally without any issue. You can also focus on your workout. It would be nice to have some free-standing barbell weights, but they probably want to avoid any potential lawsuits. It can get busy at times, but it's definitely worth the price!
Just had a conversation with a stranger on the phone regarding my account. When my child tried to upgrade our account to the black card, they ended up creating a whole new account instead of upgrading. They didn't even realize the mistake. Moreover, they failed to notice that my child is only 15 and shouldn't be authorized to make such changes. As a result, I was charged twice for two accounts. Although someone at the facility helped resolve the issue, I was left with two annual fees - one for the original membership and a new one for the upgraded membership just a few months later. I inquired about a refund, but they refused. I asked for an additional month of membership, but again, they declined. Requested to speak with a manager, but was told that the manager was aware of the situation. When I asked for the manager's name, they refused to provide it. It's baffling that they won't take responsibility for their mistake. They instructed me to contact the corporate office. Dealing with these large corporations can be challenging, especially when you encounter a young individual on the phone who is dismissive of a valid customer service issue. The place seems to lack empathy.
