Impressive variety, ample parking, usually pleasant staff, and efficient curbside pickup. However, the in-store checkout experience has been dreadful as of late. A lone self-service checkout and a solitary cashier are causing needlessly long queues in the middle of the day. Come on Target, this is one of the superior stores around; do not tarnish it by scrimping on staffing.
There is just one cashier and four self-service checkout counters, yet only three are operational. I stood in line, and when it was finally my turn, I discovered they don't accept cash, despite no signage indicating this. I had to return to the regular line and wait and wait and wait until it was finally my turn again.
They fail to grasp the importance of a smooth checkout experience in every reputable store. Despite having numerous cash registers, only one is open on a bustling evening. If they wish to reduce cashier costs, they should have at least 6 self-checkout stations. The space is certainly available. Out of the 4 self-checkout counters, only 2 were in operation. Target should recognize that apart from groceries, almost everything in the store can be bought on Amazon. They should enhance the in-store experience to be more enjoyable.
