I have been a patron of Onyx Salon since 2017. Mr. Alex and Taylor are phenomenal!! My hair looks and feels fantastic. I trust them more than I trust myself with my hair :) I highly recommend them to everyone!! May this business be blessed. They are an essential part of our community!!
Warning, Taylor was the stylist I visited. I came in for a haircut (shaded fade, maintaining my natural curly top) and a touch-up on my bleach job. My hair was bleached to platinum white and now I have to trim my curly top because my hair is overly processed and damaged. I was put under the dryer with bleach in my hair. No protective base was applied around the edges or on my scalp before the bleach was applied post-cut (it stung). I was placed under the dryer with the bleach in my hair (a big mistake, especially for 4b textured hair). After rinsing out the bleach, he was only planning to use deep conditioner. I inquired about toner, and that's the only reason toner was applied, and I was put back under the dryer with toner in my hair (another mistake). This caused my hair to not only turn white but it is now extremely dry and brittle despite my attempts with deep conditioning, leave-in conditioner, and moisturizing cream. Unfortunately, my hair is still shedding and very dry. The brushing and combing were rough, and I felt like my service was rushed. My fade was not done properly. I paid for the service but did not tip because I was extremely disappointed and will not be returning. I will just take care of my own hair from now on.
I had an excellent experience. Mr. Alex did a fantastic job braiding my hair. He was quick, and I didn't experience any discomfort. I will definitely return.
