Hana Nails

Having recently relocated from Newport News to Portsmouth, I just returned from a nail appointment and am thrilled with the results. Hana precisely followed my requests and even suggested a unique design for my toes, which I had never tried before. The array of options she offered was impressive, and the final design turned out adorable! I intend to make this salon a regular stop for my pedicures! 🥰❤️

Ms. Hana consistently earns a perfect five-star rating from me. Initially, I was next door assisting my grandmother with a phone setup when she required the restroom. Ms. Hana graciously allowed my grandmother to use the facilities, and her kindness motivated me to take a seat in her salon chair. The service was remarkably swift, and she executed my desired nail style flawlessly. My toenails have been rejuvenated! Despite being a visitor from Newport News, this is my second visit to Hana's salon, and I will undoubtedly return!

Called ahead and was denied a quote over the phone, being told to show up in person for nail consultation. A woman at a different establishment recommended this place, mentioning the presence of black nail technicians. Upon arrival, I was greeted by Hana. She promptly began working on my nails and evaded discussing the prices until I had to inquire. Eventually, she quoted $50 for a gel fill, $10 for French tips, and $10 for a cut down. For a pedicure with gel polish, the cost was $45. Reluctantly, I agreed to the prices. While I don't mind paying for quality service, the outcome was one of the worst nail sets I've ever received. I trusted Hana's experience, as she claimed to be traditional and have been in the nail industry since the 90s, evident from the dated designs displayed. However, the end result resembled the nails my mother had back in '93! The prices charged were reflective of 2024, yet the products used were not high-end or branded, lacking a luxurious experience and even decent lotion for the pedicure. Notably, there was nothing added to the pedicure water, a cheese grater was used on my foot without proper cleaning, and the supplies seemed outdated. Despite feeling disappointed, I required the service at the time. I hoped the situation would improve, but my nails and toes were uneven in shape and size, lacking smoothness. I have no intention of returning and question why this establishment caters to anyone beyond young girls, as I could have easily opted for press-on nails. As I was leaving, an elderly lady who had inquired earlier about Hana's availability approached me in the parking lot to confirm if my session was complete. She disclosed that Hana often alters prices or adds charges under the guise of goodwill, only to bill you later.
