I made a conscious effort to support black women by driving 45 minutes for their services. Initially, I only had pedicures done. Despite giving the young lady multiple chances to improve, I was unable to achieve the desired quality. While my daughter's full set was satisfactory, her fill-ins fell short. I had to return the next day to address the issues. Although my daughter's hair was straightened, it lacked volume due to an excessive amount of grease applied. I paid the same price for a fill-in as I did for a full set that needed replacing after just 2 days. Needless to say, I will stick with establishments run by individuals from other nationalities.
Nails appeared uneven, lumpy, and oversized, with messy edges on the toes. Excessive glue hindered my vision during eyelash application, and upon closer inspection at home, I promptly removed them. There was black glue residue on my eyelid and clumps of glue on the lashes. The $20 lashes were of poor quality and stiff. While I aim to support black-owned businesses, it is unreasonable to expect patronage solely based on ownership without delivering quality. Both the polish and acrylic services fell short of expectations. I was charged $50 for my nails despite being quoted $40 for the length. Proceed with caution, as evidenced by the photos. I ended up spending $100, shaking my head in disappointment. The only positive aspect was the work on my eyebrows.
This was my premier visit here. They exuded warmth and friendliness. Despite the initial awkwardness that often accompanies first-time interactions, we eventually settled into a more relaxed and engaging conversation. I anticipate that our next encounter will be even more comfortable for both of us. The technician had to redo my nails, but she did an exceptional job. The coffin shape she crafted was flawless, and her expertise in applying acrylic and shaping the nails was evident. I will definitely return to this establishment. Having visited various places in the vicinity, I was pleasantly surprised by the superior service at the Portsmouth location. I highly recommend giving it a try, especially for nail services.
