Zama came referred by a pal. I tried the foot spa and deep tissue rubdown. The ambiance and decor at Zama were just lovely. The salt room where my rubdown was had a unique vibe, and combined with the great energy of my masseuse Rae, it put me in a lovely state that I truly valued. This is particularly significant for me due to my chronic health condition, allowing me to receive treatment promptly. Additionally, the massages I receive are skillful and thorough. Tina has consistently remembered my preferences from the beginning and customizes each session to focus on specific areas and duration as per my needs. The tension in my scalp, neck, and shoulders from migraines is effectively alleviated by Tina's expertise. Despite having experienced pricier massages with lesser benefits, the value of her work far exceeds the cost. The reasonable pricing enables me to visit more frequently than I would have otherwise. My spouse and I receive massages monthly and our usual spot closed. I phoned and booked sessions for massages, lasting 90 minutes. Confirmed cost of $110 each. Excellent! Upon arrival for the appointment with my spouse, a credit card fee of $10 was suddenly added to the total. It's acceptable if the fee is disclosed or mentioned on the phone. Very questionable when it's only brought up when they're processing your card. I was consistently informed I could pay with cash or I had to pay the fee. Because of our Hollywood location, I never carry cash. It's just not secure. We skipped our appointments and walked into another massage place nearby that charged the same as advertised! That will be our new monthly massage spot. Could you imagine if the florist, grocery store, or nail salon charged you the bank card percentage fee every time? No! Because it's included in the quoted price. TLDR: Grew out my light brown hair for two years in preparation for a balayage. Almost no consultation in the chair beforehand except a picture on IG. Salon had a junior stylist take 6 hours to do half the balayage job (effectively partial highlights) and charged almost 400 dollars. Follow up appt part time manager sets appt with master stylist for free. Master stylist calls me later same day and tells me they are going to charge me even more than I paid the first time and at higher rates.
