This was the worst pedicure I’ve ever had. The sir asked me to choose my hue, and I was going to do a simple design with one other. He insisted I pay after he began the pedicure but before he applied any polish. There was no base coat done. The top coat was finished by someone else after he demanded $5 for each design, when I was only seeking for both big toes. Top coat hardly applied, and chipped off in the car. Would not recommend this shop to anyone. Two of my toes are red and inflamed around the nail edges but service to those was entirely neglected, no cuticle or nail softener used, nor a soak in lieu of those.
The place is dirty. The person doing my nails wore the same gloves for 3 people. And a preschool kid could do a better paint job.
It has been very hard for me to find a nail salon that I truly love, and can stick with. I have tried many different salons out in Cook County, since moving from Chicago and have yet to find a good one! I decided to give Harper Nails a shot since it’s close to home. I went there for a manicure (I get a gel manicure) and liked it - I didn’t love it, but I decided to go back a few weeks later for a gel manicure and an acrylic gel fill in. The manicures were decent - there’s one African-American woman there who did a phenomenal job with my manicures. I thought she was going to do my nails as well the second time I went but unfortunately she did not. I will just say that when you see such awful reviews as this salon has, believe it - don’t give it a try. The staff is not friendly AT ALL. The price they charge to keep their doors open is not worth the job they do, and most importantly they are filthy! They have those plexiglass windows still up since the COVID pandemic and they are filthy - and the second (which will also be the last) time I went, it smelled awful in there - the best I could explain it was ongoing diarrhea farts. Gross! Once I arrived home and washed up, my nails began bubbling and three days later my nails started cracking. I thought they were doing a decent job with the top coats and such to make your nails strong and not weak but it seems as if I was incorrect with those thoughts. $90.00 for a gel manicure and acrylic gel fill in with a design they said they could do and straight lines are crooked - I cannot wait to get my nails done again but I will not be going back to Harper Nails. If you’re looking for a relaxing experience, with light conversation and smiles; if you like to feel welcomed and like you matter DO NOT GO HERE. As a paying customer, customer service should exist. They should be happy to have clients who want to go there - everyone looks angry and they’re not very friendly AT ALL.
