Exorbitant prices. I visited this place to fix a broken nail and change the color, the proprietor tried to charge $30 whereas my usual nail salon in the mall charges $5-6 for a repair and $10-15 for a color change. My acquaintances' kin used to frequent this place but stopped due to the inconsistent pricing and excessive tipping pressure. They create an atmosphere where you feel compelled to tip generously even when the quality of work is subpar. I previously had a full set done here and didn't return until now when my nail broke, but I initially ceased going because after the full set, my cuticles were sore and lacerated. No longer going and all my friends and relatives have followed suit!
I have conflicting feelings about this establishment as their service fluctuates between good and bad. They lack consistency. I also dislike the owner's persistent and pushy attitude towards tips. I believe in tipping based on the quality of service provided, if it's exceptional, I'll tip generously, etc. I typically give around 12-15%, but the tip amount depends on the service received. The owner sometimes suggests, "Oh, a $5 tip is sufficient. They did a great job," even if that's not the case, and she does this immediately when you approach the payment counter. I detest feeling coerced into a specific tip amount. I find it downright impolite. That being said, the venue is elegantly adorned and impeccably clean. Visit and judge for yourself. Your encounter might differ.
I took my son here for a pedicure. They accidentally cut his toe that got infected. They charged him triple the initial quote. They refused to communicate with me, so now I'm heading to the Professional Board to ensure they improve their practices. I can't upload a picture, but I'll attempt again.
