However, if my experience can prevent someone from making the same error I did, then it's worth sharing. I reached out to Riley on 2/28/24 to inquire about any available slots on 3/2/24. Luckily, there was a cancellation, so she was able to accommodate me. Riley had styled my hair once about three years ago, and I had loved the result. When I contacted her, she remembered me and the previous hairstyle, insisting she recalled exactly what she had done last time. Our brief consultation was repeatedly interrupted by her engaging in other conversations around us. While working on my hair, this pattern continued. Although I understand people enjoy chatting, I'm not much of a talker myself. Throughout the process, it felt like she was getting distracted by talking and had to pause to remember where to place the blonde highlights. We had agreed beforehand that a toner might be necessary, but she wanted to blow-dry my hair first to assess. In all my previous experiences, a toner had always been required. After she finished, I was somewhat surprised when she inquired if I liked it. As I styled my hair as usual (without her asking my preferred style), I noticed it looked off. The lighting at her station was poor, and with other stylists and acquaintances present, I didn't want to cause a scene. I reluctantly told her I liked it. I paid $130 for the service and left a $30 tip. Additionally, I purchased shampoo, conditioner, and a hair cream for curly hair for $85 (which seemed overpriced, but I paid without question). As I left, I felt a sense of panic as I internally knew my hair was not right. Upon reaching my car, I broke down as my hair looked utterly dreadful. The blonde was uneven, overly yellow, a section had no blonde at all, and there were misplaced highlights. She hadn't realized she had applied three foils of blonde in the front... As a professional providing a service, I believe one should ensure they are competent in their work. I reached out to my sister to examine my hair more closely in her bathroom. Her immediate reaction confirmed my fears - my hair looked terrible. I contacted Riley to express my dissatisfaction. She invited me back to rectify the issue. During the correction, she sought opinions from another stylist and her non-stylist daughter, which made me uneasy as she should have known what needed fixing. After the adjustments, she even made jokes about the initial mishap, which bothered me as I was the one who had to wear the result. By that point, I was exhausted and ready to leave after spending hours at the salon. I was drained, and my day was essentially ruined, having arrived at 2:15 and not leaving until around 9. I told her I was satisfied. The following day, I noticed how damaged my hair was. It felt dry and straw-like, unlike any previous coloring experiences. I am still deeply disappointed and will have to seek another stylist next month to correct the errors and hopefully repair the damage. Furthermore, the haircut was uneven, and the layers were poorly blended. I dislike having to address this as I am typically easygoing and avoid complaints, but this was an exceptionally unpleasant experience.
