My wife and I popped in today for a couples tattoo. Emily was our artist and she absolutely nailed our ink. The atmosphere in the studio is top-notch. Great vibes and exceptional service... the service was so good that I came back the next day for some tooth gems from Alex. The salon's online and door hours indicate they close at 6pm. I arrived at 5:20 and found the doors locked. There was a person inside (presumably an employee, busy applying makeup) who saw me and chose to ignore my presence, even when my 6-year-old knocked. This was my second attempt to get my daughters' hair cut at this salon, and both times they claimed to be "closed" despite the posted hours. I frequented this salon for approximately 10 years. The initial stylist I saw left (I can't recall her name but I liked her) and then I began seeing Michelle who is absolutely fantastic. I relocated from the DC area (previously traveled from DC to Laurel because I adored the service here) but returned to the area last year. Despite my long-standing patronage, the proprietor informed me that they didn't have the capacity for me to return. This was EXTREMELY disheartening after being a client for so long. I invested $150 in a consultation with Dr. Clarke, and it turned out to be one of the most regrettable health decisions I've made. Supporting businesses owned by the indigenous community is important to me, but professionalism and respect are basic expectations. Unfortunately, my appointment in July did not meet these standards. During the initial intake, we discussed my background, including my disability as a deaf individual. Despite noting this on my chart, the doctor assumed I was unemployed due to my disability and skipped over my employment history. Only when I mentioned work-related stress did she realize her mistake, offering a feeble apology. Despite this, I proceeded with the appointment. However, things took a turn for the worse when she questioned my husband's fidelity based on my health issues, completely disregarding my concerns. Feeling disrespected and angered, I left the appointment. The situation worsened when Dr. Clarke delayed writing a prescription for almost two weeks, and failed to respond to my messages promptly. I am appalled by her unprofessionalism and lack of respect, and I strongly advise avoiding this practice.
