My usual admiration for Ulta took a hit last night. I entered the store with the specific goal of finding The Ordinary skincare products suitable for mature/aging skin. However, the employee my age, who should have assisted me, walked away, leaving a younger colleague to recommend only a good SPF sunscreen to use with retinol. Despite purchasing what I believed I needed, I was overwhelmed by a strong smoke odor at the checkout. The smell was so intense that I felt nauseated and had to resist the urge to vomit. I suggest that employees be reminded that a pleasant scent is a crucial aspect of the Ulta experience. Overall, I left feeling disappointed and hope for a more positive visit next time.
