My preferred spot in my community! My child graduated from the PLCC Culinary program and is now pursuing a culinary career at the Culinary Institute of America. I am grateful to the PLCC staff who played a role in guiding my daughter to her current success. I will forever appreciate their support.
If you are a person of color interested in the cosmetology program, I strongly suggest exploring other options. I was coerced into removing my hair and made to be a spectacle in front of the entire school, causing me embarrassment. There have been multiple instances where I was singled out because I was the only black student in the class, to the extent that I had to take legal action. Unfortunately, no action has been taken to address the situation. While the counselors are supportive, I believe individuals of color should consider alternative institutions in Canton.
I do not recommend the nursing program. Ever since our program coordinator was removed, it has turned into a nightmare. There is a lack of structure, and the recently hired instructors are not effective at teaching. They seem confused, which in turn confuses us. These instructors are assigned to teach our most challenging courses, and it is a terrible experience because we are not grasping the material as they do not utilize diverse teaching methods. We have to rely on other resources to comprehend everything. It is absurd. YouTube has been more helpful. When seeking assistance, some teachers lack patience. There is only one teacher who genuinely cares. She puts her heart into educating us, and we all excel in her exams. Considering the significant amount of money I pay for tuition, I believe the quality of education should be better. The teaching methods of some instructors are dreadful, and our entire class is anxious about passing the NCLEX.
