I got a dip manicure and it has white specks all over it. One nail technician told me they looked like air bubbles. However, when I asked my nail tech, she gave a completely different explanation, saying it's the powder and it's normal for dark colors with dip nails. I've had dip manicures with dark colors for years and have never encountered this issue. Although she asked me what I wanted to do about it, since she had informed me to expect this outcome, I had little hope she could rectify it. Moreover, I was on a time constraint as they were running 15 minutes behind schedule. The pedicure was decent, but overall, it was a disappointing experience.
I entered the establishment with politeness, looking to get my nails done, as I had not been here before. The owner or manager seemed quite uneasy about my presence, despite my appropriate attire in a hoodie set. Even though there was no dress code visible anywhere in the store, his standoffish behavior was evident. I sat down to have my nails done, as he suggested it would speed up the process. Although it was an odd request, I agreed. I specified the shape and length I wanted, going through all the details. When I got up from the chair, the manager hastily sanitized the seat and wiped down every area I had been in or might have touched. He even wiped the back of the worker's chair near the headrest area, but did not do the same for anyone else or any other worker. I felt unfairly treated for no reason at all. It was discrimination at its peak. I patiently waited for the nail artist to finish her appointment, but when she left, he didn't sanitize her chair for me to sit in. I felt extremely uncomfortable. It was clear that he favored his white clientele. I paid for my nails and left, and I will never return. I can't believe I was treated in such a manner.
I was just in town for the weekend and I found a salon for a fill this morning, let me tell you. I arrived at the right place with the best nail technician, who happened to be the owner. She is a kind soul and my nails look flawless! Her warmth matches her business and I appreciate that she took the time to connect with a stranger and chat as if we've been friends for years. I will definitely return here whenever I visit Columbus!
