Today marked my inaugural visit to Kim's Healing Center, and it was truly exceptional. I've been receiving regular massages for nearly two decades, and this experience stood out.
This was one of the most excruciating massages I've ever had. I've gotten deep tissue massages before, but this medium pressure one was surprisingly painful and intense throughout. The individual who performed the massage seemed very skilled, and I can see how some people might find it beneficial. Upon arrival, the person who welcomed me was extremely friendly, which got me excited. However, I believe there was a significant lack of communication. Before the massage, the greeter and I discussed my needs, which were focused on my back, neck, head, and face. I clearly stated that I didn't want work done on my front side. Unfortunately, none of this was adhered to. The masseuse worked on the agreed-upon areas but then proceeded to work on my legs and hips, causing me significant pain. I couldn't effectively communicate this due to a language barrier. I thought the discomfort would be worth it and that I'd feel better the next day. I'm still hopeful for that outcome. This initial miscommunication was followed by a request to flip over, at which point I decided to end the session. Frustrated and in pain, I got dressed and spoke to the greeter. I shared my experience, and she mentioned that I had signed up for a full body massage, which contradicted our initial conversation. I left feeling bewildered. On my way home, I cried as I had been in dire need of relaxation but ended up feeling pained and frustrated. While I believe the establishment is likely proficient, the breakdown in communication was a significant issue in my case. In hindsight, I should have been clearer about my preferences. I had assumed medium pressure would suffice based on past experiences with deep tissue massages that were less painful. While I'd like to consider returning, the inability to effectively communicate my needs or discomfort to the therapist gives me pause. I hope to feel better tomorrow.
