Upon meeting Dr. Mateo, I was immediately impressed by his youth, talent, and pleasant demeanor. He clearly explained my options, and together we decided on the least invasive approach for now. Our mutual understanding and agreement on the plan of care assure me that any future adjustments will be made collaboratively. It was a pleasure to be under his care, and I look forward to my follow-up appointment.
I must express my immense gratitude for the outstanding care provided by Dr. Mateo and his team at Lakeshore Ortho. Their professionalism and compassion during my TKR procedure surpassed all expectations. On April 19, 2022, Dr. Brandon Mateo and his medical team at UPMC Chautauqua conducted my right TKR. The surgery took place on a Tuesday, followed by physical therapy and a nerve block. By Wednesday, I was discharged by 11 am on Thursday, experiencing minimal pain thanks to the PT and nerve block. I managed my pain without opioids and even slept in my own bed the first night back home. My left TKR is scheduled for Tuesday, November 22, allowing me to be home for Thanksgiving dinner. A noteworthy moment with Dr. Mateo was when he signed my knee with the initials BAM, coincidentally matching the name of the Be A Man Bible Ministry I established. Witnessing this, I asked if I could pray for him and his team, a moment of silent gratitude we all shared. His impact on my quality of life has been profound.
A skilled and friendly surgeon, he performed surgery on both my knees. Truly amazing!
