My recent visit to the woodhouse spa was an attempt to recapture the luxurious experience I had previously enjoyed at their original location. Unfortunately, my expectations were not met during this visit.
I must say, the search for this establishment was quite the ordeal. Upon my arrival, it became evident that the reviews were indeed accurate. One can only hope that this is merely a temporary location because if not, it was truly dreadful. Nestled in a strip mall, within what appears to be an old office building, the setting lacked the charm of a typical Woodhouse spa. The absence of a proper locker room with changing facilities and bathrooms was disappointing. The designated "relaxing room" exuded a sense of neglect, with antiquated furniture and haphazardly placed pillows offering minimal comfort. The changing area, hidden behind a curtain, featured a rather uninviting chair. The reception area was disorganized and unkempt. For a day spa, such conditions are utterly unacceptable, even for a temporary setup. It is unreasonable to expect patrons to pay over $180 for a massage in an office building with a frosted glass wall separating the massage area (I could discern the outline of someone outside, which likely meant they could see mine). Throughout the massage, I felt uneasy and on edge. Following the treatment, the receptionist inquired about my experience and promptly asked if I intended to add a 20% tip, without disclosing the total amount—a rather impolite gesture. Despite my customary practice of tipping generously, I found this inquiry off-putting. The need to prompt for a tip suggests an awareness of the lackluster environment that the rundown office building "day spa" presents. I would appreciate contact from management as this level of service is unacceptable and does not align with the standards set by Woodhouse spas in my region. The promotional images could not have been further from the truth.
