My disappointment with LaVida and its franchise operations knows no bounds. As a long-time member at the Ferndale branch, I faithfully paid substantial fees annually. However, the abrupt closure of the Ferndale location left me in the lurch with six unused massages, valued at nearly $300. Upon contacting the franchise, they callously refused any form of reimbursement, be it monetary or in the form of vouchers, citing a lack of association with the Ferndale site. This assertion is baffling, considering the franchise must have derived financial benefits from its various locations. The way LaVida conducts its affairs is deeply disheartening. I vow never to patronize or endorse any of their establishments in the future. If only I could assign a rating of zero stars.
The sudden closure of the Frederick, Maryland branch caught me off guard. I had already paid for my membership in advance. After reaching out to the corporate office, I was directed to Jessica Fields, the owner of the franchise. Jessica assured me that I would be reimbursed for my membership through a mailed check within 60 days. It's been almost 120 days now, and still no sign of the promised refund. My attempts to contact Jessica have been futile, and I highly doubt I will ever see my money again. This level of unprofessionalism is simply unacceptable.
This establishment is quick to push their memberships, but when it comes time to part ways, the experience turns sour. Even after canceling my membership, I continued to receive invoices. While the charges were eventually reversed and the staff was pleasant, the billing cycle resumed a year later. To put an end to the unauthorized charges during a challenging period, I had to cancel my credit card altogether.
