I have frequented this nail salon for quite some time now, always opting for a gel manicure. I usually contact her for appointments. Yesterday, I visited to inform her that I needed a removal the next day and a new gel manicure the day after. She seemed fine with it. Today, when I reminded her about the removal and the need to book an appointment for the gel manicure tomorrow, she became furious. In front of many people, she questioned why I only came in for a removal and began shouting at me. I explained that I had visited the day before to schedule the removal and the new gel manicure separately. She accused me of creating more work for them and demanded an extra charge (usually, removal is complimentary if you get your nails done there) while persistently asking why I didn't come in once. I tried to explain that it's due to my religious beliefs as a Muslim woman, where nail polish should be removed before Ghusl or Bath (Major Ritual Ablution) in Islam. Disregarding my explanation, she dismissed my beliefs, calling them stupid, and told me not to book a gel manicure appointment or return. I showed her information from Google about my beliefs, but she remained indifferent, stating that it's not her concern and that she only focuses on her business. She insisted that I always came in solely for removal (despite never having done so) and disregarded the fact that I always arrived with clean nails for my gel manicure. She deemed me rude for not accepting her reaction to my religious beliefs. Despite my pleas for respect for my faith, she continued with her insulting behavior. I left feeling disrespected, hurt, and angry. This discriminatory treatment is unacceptable, especially in a business setting. I paid the requested amount and left, determined to seek justice for this racism and discrimination based on my faith.
