Received a fantastic hair cut and style from Roz a couple of weeks back. It was quite a significant change, and they assured me that if I needed any adjustments within a few days once I got a feel for it, they would accommodate me. That thoughtful gesture really stood out to me, and I felt reassured knowing I had that option available.
I was hesitant to share my thoughts, but after being encouraged by several individuals, I feel compelled to do so. I participated in a complimentary hair cut session with Roz on Saturday, September 23, 2023, as part of their event focusing on gender-affirming haircuts. I completed a detailed form on their website and was pleasantly surprised to see the thorough client questionnaire. I clearly communicated my desire to grow out my hair while blending two distinct layers from a previous undercut, and I specified the need for a low-maintenance style due to my chronic health conditions. Despite articulating my preferences before the cut, I left with my hair significantly shorter, about a third of its previous length, and excessively thinned out from the razor. When asked about my satisfaction post-cut, I honestly expressed my disappointment. However, the only response I received was on September 27th, suggesting that my hair might just need brushing and drying. Despite reaching out multiple times, including sharing how I had to seek corrective measures elsewhere and the impact on my mental well-being, I have not received further communication. My hair held immense gender-affirming significance for me, especially as an autistic individual. This experience has been emotionally draining, leading to heightened gender dysphoria. While I understand that refunds are not feasible, and hair cannot be magically restored, I had hoped for some level of compassion, empathy, or basic customer service. It has been precisely two weeks today since my visit, and I am deeply disheartened by this experience, despite appreciating the salon's mission.
